Loss by suicide
The Questions That Have No Answers
Living with the endless 'why' after suicide.
After suicide, the mind becomes a courtroom. It cross-examines every conversation, every glance, every missed signal. You replay the days and weeks before, searching for the moment you could have changed the outcome.
But here is what many survivors discover: the questions do not resolve. They circle. They evolve. They sometimes quiet, and then return without warning. This is not a failure of your understanding. It is the nature of a loss that arrives without explanation.
You may never know why. You may never know what they were thinking. You may never know if a different word, a different hour, a different choice would have altered what happened. And as unbearable as that is, it is also part of the terrain.
You are allowed to stop interrogating yourself.
You are allowed to let the questions rest, even if they never disappear.
Your love for them does not depend on solving the mystery.
With care,
